Privacy & Security in Autonomous Systems

About Me

Portrait of Maryam Ghorbanvirdi

Hi! I’m Maryam.

I am a PhD student in Computer Science at The George Washington University, researching security in autonomous systems through privacy-preserving mechanisms. My work investigates how runtime behavior in cyber-physical and real-time systems can leak sensitive information through timing and behavioral side channels.

I am particularly interested in indistinguishability-inspired techniques that make system execution less predictable while preserving utility and safety.

Currently, I am working on differential privacy mechanisms to improve the security of such systems. More broadly, I aim to design security methods that are practical for real-world autonomous systems.

What I am doing these days...

Differential Privacy

Adjust epsilon (ε) to see how privacy and noise change. Lower epsilon = stronger privacy but more noise.
